Rumours such as those published in Velonews.competitor have suggested that the Mont Ventoux will once again feature in the 2016 Tour de France. The race will start on the 2nd of July and very likely follow an anti-clockwise direction meaning that this stage will probably feature in the second week, with the Pyrenees and possibly Andorra completing the final mountain stages in week three.
The last time the Mont Ventoux was used in the Tour de France, Chris Frome this years Tour winner took charge of the 2013 tour by winning on the “Giant of the Provence” and going on to win his first Tour.
Competition for accommodation in the area will be fierce for this week, so make sure you get in contact as soon as possible.
Here at Bike Lodging we can highly recommend a number of bike friendly places which feature on our Mont Ventoux Accommodation page, such as one of our favourite Hotels in Malaucene at the foot of the Mont Ventoux.
